The Old Library has a well stocked collection of over 14,000 English language books catering to a wide range of interests. The collection is organised into specialist sections, including:

  • Adult Fiction

  • General Reference

  • Middle East Reference

  • Teenage Fiction

  • Children's Fiction and Picture Books

  • Children's Reference

  • Romance Books

Library Reference Section

New books are purchased every month and are displayed on the shelves opposite the Circulation Desk, immediately to the right on entering the Library.

Members may submit requests for book purchases for both the Children/Teenage sections and the Adult Fiction section. The Library Book Buyers endeavour to accommodate Member requests in their purchasing plan but cannot guarantee that all books requested will be available.

CHILDREN'S BOOK CORNER

The Children's Section is well stocked with picture books for pre-schoolers and all the up-to-date series popular with older children, including the Harry Potter Series. The Children's Section also has a good selection of children's reference books. The picture and fiction books are organised alphabetically and the reference section is organised according to the Dewey Decimal System.
Pre-school Reading Session: A members only reading session for pre-school children is conducted in the Library every Sunday morning. Pre-registration with the Library is required and children must be accompanied by an adult.

TEENAGE SECTION

The Library has a large range of popular teenage fiction books including most popular, modern series. The teenage fiction books are organised alphabetically.There is also a small collection of reference books specific to teenage interests.

ADULT FICTION

The Library boasts a very large collection of adult fiction books including series by many popular authors and separate sections for science fiction, fantasy and romance. The fiction books are organised alphabetically.

REFERENCE SECTION

The Adult Reference section has a good range of general reference books including travel and biographies. It is organised according to the Dewey Decimal System.

A specific section of the Library reference collection is set aside for books relating to the Middle East. This section is located along the wall beside the Library circulation and book processing office and includes books by Middle Eastern writers.
