SUMMI SIDDIQUI - STORYTELLER EXTRAODINAIRE

Summi Siddiqui is a professional storyteller based in Toronto and is an active member of the Durham Folklore Society.

Her life has been influenced by her creative family of artists, poets, musicians, writers and storytellers. She travels to the United States, Europe, Middle East, and India . She carries Canadian stories with her on her trips and brings back tales from the places she visits. She also writes her own short stories, which are a cocktail of fact and fiction.

On stage, her stories have more than one ending so that she can spontaneously choose the one most suitable for the audience. Storytelling is a performance and Summi becomes someone else in a different time zone, where she uses props and musical instruments to enhance her act. She has been referred to as 'the lady who moves with the speed of thought".

Summi is an Artist, a Montessori Teacher and a Short Story writer. Her inspiration comes from her family, her travels, and her cat. At present she is busy giving workshops to schools in Dubai and prior to this spent time in Muscat weaving stories for High School Students.

Summi is passionate about her storytelling 'art' and feels that people flock to listen to her because her stories create understanding between cultures.
